Professor Donna Houston and her team successfully led a symposium in September: Storying and Practicing Care and Justice in Public Spaces, at Macquarie University City Campus (Sydney CBD).
This symposium marked the culmination of the Power of Public Spaces, an ARC Linkage project undertaken in partnership with the NSW Government. Over the past four years, the PPS has explored what sustains the life of public spaces now and into the future: the ideas, meanings, relationships and practices that connect people, places and more-than-human worlds. Grounded in an ongoing commitment to First Nations truthtelling, design and values, the project has examined how public spaces are planned, created, cared for and shared in an Australian context.
